Dr. Robert Oliver came to Bastrop in 1998 after serving at Forked River Baptist Church in New Jersey. He met his wife, Pace, while serving as Associate Pastor with Grace Bible Church in College Station, Texas, where they married in 1990. After eight years in New Jersey, they returned to Texas to be near family where their seven children would have plenty of room to roam wild and free. Robert and Pace enjoy a hot cup of tea, a tall stack of great books, and long walks to discuss them. He feels blessed to be able to study and teach God’s Word and enjoys teaching local humanities classes. Robert believes the transformational work of Christ thrives in relationships within family, church, and community. He serves as a volunteer police chaplain with the Bastrop Police Department, participates in the Bastrop Ministerial Alliance and is on the board of BastropCAN promoting educational choice in Bastrop County. Robert has a BBA in Accounting from the University of Texas, a ThM and DMin from Dallas Theological Seminary.
